FOLLOW OUR ADVENTURES IN DEMLAND

We live amongst a tribal group known as the Dem who are located in the mountains of Southeast Asia. We are here to learn their language, translate the Bible into their language, and teach them about God. Visitors!

Chantal and Jason were in San Antonio, TX this summer for Jason's internship. Sooo, on their way back to IL, they were able to stop and spend the night with us. It was so nice to see them, even thought they didn't get to stay too long. Thanks for coming guys:)

They treated us to a delicious breakfast in Osage Beach on Sunday morning.

Dear Dad, Mom, Tonya, Lydia, Nathan, Jenna and Elise

We are so glad you came to help us move in:)

We all started off at 5am on August 13th... Destination Roach, MO

Dad, Mom, Jenna and Elise were in the Astro van, followed by Dylan and Nathan in the Budget truck, with Tonya, Lydia, Raquel and I bringing up the rear.

Here's Mom keeping Raquel occupied while we unloaded the truck in the 107 degree heat- it was the hottest day so far, however the next two days beat that record as we experienced the joy of misery errr, I mean Missouri in August:)

Nice Lyds

Where's Raquel?

Everyone pitched in with unpacking, setting up, putting together, watching Raquel, doing laundry etc. etc. It was a HUGE help! Now we are settled in and looking forward to visitors:)

By the time we got done, I think that Raquel decided that the only way to get her parents to pay any attention to her was if she was inside a box. This is how we found her one night.

Raquel's Crib

We started school today, and so it was Raquel's first day in the Child Care program. Thankfully she had fun and didn't pinch anyone, but she was VERY tired by noon. She almost fell asleep on Dylan as we walked home. Here are some pictures of her very first bedroom. No more closets or pack and plays! Now she sleeps in style:)

Thanks for the fishes Grandma!

Shots and Locks

Raquel had her 15 month check up this morning. She had to have 4 shots- one in each arm and one in each leg (she has two arms and two legs:) I had to hold her down while Dylan looked on helplessly as his daughter got stuck four excrutiating times. It was quite an ordeal, but thankfully she survived and had even ripped off the band-aids (or plasters:) before we got home.

After that Elise and I went to Azana Salon and Spa in Brookfield and donated our hair to Locks of Love and scored free haircuts. Jenna actually got to do the first hack job on my hair.
